I am interested in the relationship between changes in the Earth's surface environment and the accumulation of trace metals in sediments formed under oxygen-depleted conditions. In particular, my research focuses on black shales of the Permian-Triassic boundary and Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events, as well as modern organic-rich muds. I am also actively trying to improve analytical methods for ultra-trace elements (e.g. Re and Os).
